Sample Preparation Lead Hand

Responsibilities

• Supervise the Sample Preparation floor during shifts to ensure all standards and client instructions are met
• Assist in the training and development of Sample Preparation technicians and report performance to the Shift Supervisor
• Perform technical tasks including ringing, sieving, crushing, and handling special preparation procedures
• Manage sample receiving, record generation, and workorder creation including QC checks
• Maintain shift production levels to ensure work meets required turnaround times
• Act as a backup to the Floor Supervisor and maintain close liaison with other lab staff
• Perform basic mechanical maintenance and adhere to all health and safety policies

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a commercial minerals laboratory or minerals sample preparation
• Valid Forklift licence/certification
• Valid Level 1 First Aid certificate
• Proficiency with LIMS and MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs and stand for a full shift
• Ability to work in a hot and dusty environment
• Flexibility to work various shifts including days, afternoons, graveyards, and weekends

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in managing or training staff
• Basic mechanical aptitude
