About the role

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the sample preparation floor to ensure workflow efficiency and adherence to client instructions
  • Maintain shift production levels and ensure turnaround times are met
  • Train and develop sample preparation technicians and monitor their performance
  • Organize employee scheduling and shift work in consultation with the Supervisor
  • Identify and resolve internal and external operational problems as they arise
  • Act as a backup for Supervisors during absences
  • Ensure all work complies with established safety regulations and ALS health and safety policies

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a commercial minerals laboratory or minerals sample preparation
  • Proficiency with LIMS and other laboratory computer systems
  • Intermediate skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Basic mechanical aptitude
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work in a hot and dusty environment and perform repetitive tasks
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs and stand for long periods

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Mineralogy, Geology, or Chemistry
  • Experience managing or training staff
  • Forklift license or experience operating a forklift
