About the role

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the Sample Preparation floor during shifts to ensure operational standards and client instructions are met
  • Assist in the training and development of Sample Preparation technicians and report performance to the Shift Supervisor
  • Perform technical tasks including ringing, sieving, crushing, and handling special preparation procedures
  • Manage sample receiving, record generation, and verify shipment notices
  • Create work orders, generate labels, and perform quality control checks
  • Maintain shift production levels and ensure turnaround times are met
  • Perform basic mechanical maintenance and act as a backup to the Floor Supervisor

Requirements

  • Degree or diploma in mineral, geology, or chemistry, or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a commercial minerals laboratory or minerals sample preparation preferred
  • Forklift licence/certification
  • Valid Level 1 First Aid certificate
  • Experience with laboratory computer systems and basic computer skills
  • Basic mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs and stand for up to 7.5 hours per shift
  • Excellent English communication skills and strong interpersonal skills
