About the role
Responsibilities
- Supervise the Sample Preparation floor during shifts to ensure operational standards and client instructions are met
- Assist in the training and development of Sample Preparation technicians and report performance to the Shift Supervisor
- Perform technical tasks including ringing, sieving, crushing, and handling special preparation procedures
- Manage sample receiving, record generation, and verify shipment notices
- Create work orders, generate labels, and perform quality control checks
- Maintain shift production levels and ensure turnaround times are met
- Perform basic mechanical maintenance and act as a backup to the Floor Supervisor
Requirements
- Degree or diploma in mineral, geology, or chemistry, or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a commercial minerals laboratory or minerals sample preparation preferred
- Forklift licence/certification
- Valid Level 1 First Aid certificate
- Experience with laboratory computer systems and basic computer skills
- Basic mechanical aptitude
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs and stand for up to 7.5 hours per shift
- Excellent English communication skills and strong interpersonal skills
