Sample Prep Technician

Responsibilities

• Split, comminution, and homogenization of incoming samples in compliance with SOPs
• Prepare test samples by grinding and homogenizing for further testing
• Maintain and clean workplace and equipment according to housekeeping requirements
• Monitor and meet Turnaround Time (TAT) requirements for sample workflow
• Record supplies taken from stockroom and note items needing reorder
• Maintain assigned equipment and perform operational qualifications
• Log and deliver sample splits to testing departments
• Log, store, and properly discard sample retains
• Perform environmental monitoring as needed

Requirements

• High school diploma
• Proven experience in laboratory sample preparation or related technical work
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex procedures
• Proficiency with basic computer systems and data entry
• Knowledge of laboratory safety standards
• Physical capability to perform repetitive tasks and lift moderate weights
• Ability to work in a laboratory environment requiring standing for >50% of the time

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)
• Familiarity with analytical chemistry principles and techniques
• Previous experience in a regulated laboratory environment
• Knowledge of sample handling and chain-of-custody procedures
