Sample Disposal Technician

Responsibilities

• Collect, transport, and dispose of environmental samples and laboratory waste according to established protocols
• Maintain accurate logs and documentation for all disposed samples to ensure regulatory compliance
• Ensure proper labeling, segregation, and storage of hazardous, non-hazardous, and biohazardous materials
• Coordinate with laboratory staff to schedule sample pickups and disposal activities efficiently
• Inspect waste containers and laboratory areas for compliance with safety standards
• Maintain and operate waste disposal equipment, such as autoclaves and incinerators
• Assist in training laboratory personnel on proper waste handling and disposal practices

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Knowledge of hazardous and non-hazardous waste handling procedures
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and stoop for extended periods
• Experience in laboratory support, custodial services, or environmental services is a plus

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical certification in environmental science or a related field
