Safety Specialist

Responsibilities

• Partner with project teams to promote safe work practices across active construction sites
• Assist in maintaining the company's participation in the Voluntary Protection Program (VPP)
• Coordinate and administer the organization's drug-free workplace program
• Support the development and implementation of company safety policies and procedures
• Participate in employee safety orientation and training sessions
• Attend project kickoff and preconstruction meetings to identify hazards
• Conduct routine field inspections, safety observations, and compliance audits
• Monitor adherence to OSHA, DOT, company, and client safety requirements
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to identify root causes
• Encourage open communication and proactive hazard reporting

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of three years of construction safety experience
• Experience in heavy civil construction (roadway, highway, utility, or earthwork) preferred
• Current CHST or CSP certification
• OSHA 500 and OSHA 510 certifications required
• Thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations and DOT requirements
