Safety Specialist

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with craft employees in the field to encourage buy-in and ownership of the safety program
• Exercise Stop Work Responsibility to ensure adherence to company policies, regulations, and work plans
• Plan, prioritize, and problem-solve with operations based on leading indicator trends and upcoming work
• Complete daily documented hazard inspections and assist with the implementation of corrective actions
• Assist with incident investigations and the implementation of effective solutions
• Maintain project files in compliance with OSHA/MSHA regulations, including accident and injury files
• Provide safety training on policies, procedures, and client-specific requirements
• Review work plans and work packs prior to the start of work

Requirements

• 1-3+ years of safety experience
• Knowledge of construction safety and current Federal/OSHA requirements
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work onsite at an active construction site in various climates and environments
• Strong organizational and time management skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or a related field
• Knowledge of safety requirements within a commercial nuclear or DOE setting
