Safety Specialist II - Sr

Responsibilities

• Conduct field observations and risk assessments to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety procedures
• Perform incident investigations using Root Cause Analysis (RCA) tools such as TapRoot, Fishbone, or Five Whys
• Provide immediate coaching and mentorship to employees and contract partners regarding safe and unsafe work conditions
• Lead field and site engagements, document deficiencies, and develop sustainable solutions to prevent repeat findings
• Review safety data and metrics to identify trends and recommend corrective actions
• Support the development of safety training programs, policies, and communications
• Exercise authority to stop work if any unsafe conditions are identified

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 4-6 years of experience in the electrical industry
• Minimum of 2 years of dedicated safety experience
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and electrical utility safety standards
• Proficiency in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) methodologies
• Ability to work onsite in the field (approximately 80% of the time)
• Ability to work irregular hours and travel up to 25% as required

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Safety or a related field
• Experience in Electrical Distribution, Transmission, or Substation environments
• 2-5 years of leadership or mentorship experience
• Professional certifications such as ASP, CUSP, OSHA 500, COSS, or CHST
