Safety Specialist

Responsibilities

• Inspect and evaluate the workplace, equipment, and practices for adherence to EHS programs and government regulations
• Perform incident investigations, including root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions
• Develop and lead safety training and toolbox talks for employees
• Maintain safety, health, and environmental program recordkeeping and reporting systems
• Assist with the development of Safe Work Procedures, task hazard analyses, and risk assessments
• Conduct periodic workplace inspections to identify hazardous conditions and regulatory non-compliance
• Coordinate with external vendors for equipment inspections, waste removal, and site surveys
• Support the implementation of the Health and Safety Representative (HSR) program

Requirements

• Diploma in safety or a related field (or equivalent)
• 1 to 3 years of experience in occupational safety
• Working knowledge of the Australian Work Health Safety Act 2011
• Valid Driver's License
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and governmental regulations
• Strong report writing and professional correspondence skills
• Ability to present information effectively to managers and stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in safety or a related field
• Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment
• Construction Induction (White Card)
• Working at Heights certification
• High Risk Work Licence(s)
• ICAM (Investigation and Incident Cause Analysis Method) training
