Safety Services Officer

Responsibilities

• Provide campus security, emergency response, and dispatch support to ensure a safe environment for the university community.
• Respond to all service calls with urgency and initiate emergency responses as necessary.
• Perform patrol duties on foot and lock/unlock campus facilities.
• Provide detailed written incident reports and conduct follow-up interviews.
• Cross-train and provide coverage for dispatcher duties during breaks or shifts.
• Notify police for situations requiring external assistance, such as illegal drug activity or weapons.
• Perform basic emergency locksmith duties, such as core changes.
• Maintain departmental equipment and offices in a safe, clean, and organized manner.

Requirements

• High School Graduate.
• Valid Ohio driver’s license.
• Ability to operate departmental vehicles in a safe manner.
• Basic computer skills and ability to use departmental radios and phones.
• Strong writing skills for documenting incidents and creating reports.
• Ability to function effectively in stressful situations, including medical emergencies and conflict.
• Physical ability to patrol campus on foot and climb at least 10 floors of stairs.
• Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in military, police, EMS, or security roles.
• Basic mechanical skills.
