Safety (Security) Specialist

Responsibilities

• Monitor entrances, exits, shared spaces, and camera views to ensure the safety of all individuals on site
• De-escalate conflicts using nonviolent, professional communication and trauma-informed techniques
• Conduct hourly walkthroughs and safety checks throughout the facility and grounds
• Report incidents clearly and accurately, escalating to leadership as needed
• Provide crisis response support in collaboration with staff and emergency services
• Identify and report safety hazards to maintain a secure environment
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation and reporting
• Engage positively and compassionately with residents

Requirements

• Current OREGON DPSST Certification
• 1+ years of security experience, preferably in a human or social services environment
• Availability to work Wednesday through Sunday, between 12:00 PM and 9:00 PM
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• Current CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain within 60 days of hire)
• Ability to remain on feet for extended periods and walk significant distances daily
• Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds

Preferred Qualifications

• Understanding of trauma-informed, person-centered, and harm-reduction approaches
• Knowledge of issues surrounding homelessness, chemical dependency, domestic violence, and sexual assault
• Bilingual or bicultural skills
