Safety Policy Lead, Youth Safety

Responsibilities

• Research and develop safety policies governing youth safety harms including CSAM, grooming, solicitation, and age assurance
• Own the full policy lifecycle from problem scoping and data justification to testing and post-launch feedback
• Partner with Legal to embed compliance requirements for KOSA, COPPA, DSA, and the Online Safety Act into policy design
• Co-develop enforcement infrastructure with Trust and Safety, Engineering, and ML teams
• Manage the feedback loop from implementation and QA to drive policy revisions
• Collaborate with external child safety organizations like NCMEC and ICAC
• Deliver rapid policy responses to emerging child safety threats and incidents

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience developing policy in trust and safety or child safety at a tech platform or civil society organization
• Deep expertise in youth safety harms, NCMEC/ICAC frameworks, and age assurance methodologies
• Direct regulatory literacy in KOSA, COPPA, DSA, and/or the Online Safety Act
• Proven ability to write clear enforcement criteria and classification hierarchies
• Experience working with ML and automation teams to translate policy into detection signals
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree in law, public policy, child development, or psychology
• Experience with Discord's platform or gaming and creator communities
• Multilingual capabilities relevant to Discord's global user base
