About the role

Responsibilities

  • Perform management oversight of construction activity and report on contractor regulatory and contract safety compliance
  • Monitor compliance to all current OSHA requirements for specific construction projects
  • Perform daily safety reviews of work in progress in accordance with Safety Regulations and SOPs
  • Monitor adherence to Owner Controlled Insurance Program (OCIP) requirements
  • Attend construction meetings, lead safety topics (toolbox), and report on site observations
  • Conduct ongoing construction site safety inspections and generate daily safety reports
  • Review contractor safety submittals including JHA, MOP, Fall Protection, and Crane lift plans
  • Review contractor incident reports and participate in safety stand-downs
  • Document safety orientations with contractor safety representatives
  • Monitor adherence to zero tolerance and corrective action policies

Requirements

  • 10 years of commercial construction experience in the US with a General Contractor
  • 5 years of experience in California with a Contractor or major subcontractor
  • 2 years of experience in educational project construction in a campus environment
  • Experience managing field construction teams on multiple projects
  • Experience with demolition, renovation, and new construction projects
  • Experience working on OCIP programs
  • Valid SMS, CHST, or CSMC certificate
  • Current First Aid/CPR/AED Certification
  • Experience with abatement and remediation of hazardous materials (asbestos, lead-based paint)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in construction management, safety management, or safety engineering
  • Current 40-Hour HAZWOPER
  • Current OSHA 500 certification
