Safety & Maintenance Ambassador - Driver

Responsibilities

• Drive assigned BID vehicles safely and in accordance with all traffic laws and internal policies
• Complete daily vehicle safety inspections and document damages, fluid levels, and cleanliness
• Identify and report hazards in public spaces such as broken infrastructure, graffiti, and sanitation issues
• Prepare and submit daily reports on observations, security concerns, and public interactions
• Engage respectfully with the public and the unhoused community
• Assist with event logistics, including transporting materials, supplies, and equipment
• Support field teams with maintenance tasks and hospitality services as needed

Requirements

• Valid Driver’s License (DC, MD, or VA) with a clean driving record
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and stand/walk for extended periods
• Ability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Strong attention to detail for accurate logging and reporting
• Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of professional driving experience
• Previous work in public space management, facilities, or public safety
• Experience using digital tools to track field activity
• Familiarity with working alongside homeless populations and handling sensitive interactions
• Bilingual skills
