Safety & Health Specialist

Responsibilities

• Ensure Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) compliance by managing occupational safety programs and supporting OSHA standards.
• Develop and write procedures, protocols, and safety manuals related to company operations.
• Conduct safety investigations for EHS incidents, including injuries and motor vehicle collisions, and recommend corrective actions.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for internal business units regarding occupational safety and regulatory compliance.
• Deliver safety-related training and presentations to employees and leadership.
• Monitor EHS compliance metrics and trends to inform business units and regulatory agencies.
• Coordinate safety-related permits such as Lock Out Tag Out and Hot Work permits.

Requirements

• BA/BS degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related technical/science field.
• Experience in occupational safety, motor vehicle safety, process/contractor safety, or industrial hygiene (years of experience required based on Specialist I, II, or Sr. level).
• Working knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulations and programs.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite and ability to learn compliance software and databases.
• Strong project management, organizational, and time management skills.
• Ability to travel 20-50% (local and overnight air travel) and respond to on-call safety emergencies.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional certification such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
• Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) designation.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
