Safety Engineer

Responsibilities

• Monitor, audit, and enforce HSE compliance on major infrastructure projects to ensure adherence to UAE Federal Law and international standards.
• Review and recommend approval for Contractor HSE plans, including Traffic Management, Emergency Response, and Environmental Management plans.
• Conduct daily and weekly site inspections of roadworks, bridges, tunnels, and utility trenches to identify hazards and risks.
• Monitor high-risk activities such as excavation, working at height, lifting operations, and confined space entry.
• Verify the implementation of permit-to-work systems and witness critical safety inspections and emergency drills.
• Oversee traffic and public safety by monitoring approved Traffic Control Plans in coordination with RTA and Dubai Police.
• Investigate accidents and near-misses using root cause analysis and maintain comprehensive HSE statistics and incident reports.
• Ensure environmental compliance regarding dust, noise, waste management, and chemical handling.

Requirements

• B.Sc. in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, or a related discipline).
• Minimum of 12 years of HSE experience in construction, with at least 8 years focused on major infrastructure projects (roads, bridges, tunnels, or utilities).
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience within the UAE or GCC region.
• NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) or NEBOSH International Diploma.
• Deep knowledge of Dubai Municipality Code of Construction Safety Practice and RTA HSE specifications.
• Strong skills in incident investigation, risk assessment, and HSE report writing.

Preferred Qualifications

• ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 Lead Auditor certification.
• RTA HSE accreditation or OSHAD-SF Practitioner registration.
• IOSH Managing Safely or OSHA 30-hour Construction certification.
• Experience with incident investigation methodologies such as TapRoot or 5-Why.
