About the role

Responsibilities

  • Own, define, and maintain the safety assurance framework for autonomous vehicle products and customer deployments.
  • Identify and document applicable safety standards, regulatory requirements, and certification expectations.
  • Maintain end-to-end traceability from hazards and safety goals through to requirements, design, and validation.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to embed safety requirements into system architecture.
  • Work with site execution teams to ensure deployment-specific safety evidence is captured and aligned with safety cases.
  • Lead communication with external certification bodies and independent assessors such as TÜV SÜD, TÜV Rheinland, or DEKRA.
  • Provide reporting to senior leadership on safety status, compliance gaps, and certification readiness.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in safety assurance, systems safety, functional safety, or systems engineering.
  • 2+ years of experience supporting autonomous navigation, autonomous vehicles, robotics, or related autonomy systems.
  • Deep knowledge of standards including ISO 26262, ISO 21448 (SOTIF), ISO 13849, and IEC 61508.
  • Proven experience with safety lifecycle processes, including hazard analysis and risk assessment.
  • Experience creating and managing safety cases, compliance matrices, and traceability matrices.
  • Strong documentation skills with a focus on producing auditable, review-ready outputs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience achieving certification within the autonomous navigation space.
  • Experience supporting safety assurance for drive-by-wire systems, remote operations, or software-intensive systems.
  • Experience working directly with external independent safety assessors.
  • Proficiency with requirements and traceability tools such as DOORS, Jira, or Confluence.
