Safety and Maintenance Ambassador

Responsibilities

• Perform zone cleaning including litter pickup, sweeping, and trash collection
• Utilize mechanical sweepers, vacuums, and pressure washers to clean public areas
• Identify and report physical defects like lighting outages or broken sidewalks
• Safely remove and decontaminate biohazards and dispose of sharps or illegal paraphernalia
• Execute maintenance repairs on masonry, woodwork, plumbing, and electrical systems
• Provide hospitality and customer service to visitors, including transit and route information
• Assist with the setup and breakdown of BID events and programs

Requirements

• Physical stamina to work outdoors for up to eight hours daily in all weather conditions
• Ability to stand, walk, or bend for extended periods and lift heavy trash bags
• Experience working with homeless individuals and people in crisis situations
• Ability to work a rotating schedule including nights, evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Attention to detail and ability to work with minimal supervision

Preferred Qualifications

• Driver's License
• Certification or knowledge of alcohol and drug abuse prevention
• Familiarity with Downtown D.C. sites, attractions, and the transit system
