Safeguarding Officer

Responsibilities

• Refer cases of suspected abuse or radicalisation to the local authority or the Channel programme
• Support staff members who make referrals to social care or external agencies
• Manage CPOMS and maintain accurate student safeguarding files
• Prepare essential information for the Principal, Academy Governors, and Ofsted
• Act as a primary point of contact for child protection issues
• Coordinate the collection of information for children's services and other external agencies
• Monitor safeguarding training status for all staff and Designated Persons
• Ensure physical intervention and pupil search logs are maintained accurately

Requirements

• Qualifications to degree standard or equivalent
• A clear understanding of safeguarding theory, issues, and practice
• Proven experience in an educational setting, specifically managing welfare cases or attendance
• Training in child protection and safeguarding procedures
• Proficiency in Microsoft software and experience using Management Information Systems (MIS)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with students, families, and professionals
• Ability to manage complex caseloads and meet strict deadlines effectively
