Safeguarding Manager, Treasury

Responsibilities

• Design, document, and operate safeguarding frameworks for EMIs/PSPs, including policies, operating procedures, and fund-flow diagrams.
• Manage daily safeguarding operations, including segregation of client funds, safeguarding calculations, and reconciliation of required vs. actual balances.
• Ensure deep compliance with UK safeguarding requirements under EMRs 2011 and PSRs 2017, including FCA guidance and notification processes.
• Partner cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Legal, and Compliance to translate regulatory obligations into automated workflows and system requirements.
• Prepare for and respond to external safeguarding audits and regulatory reviews, managing evidence gathering and remediation plans.
• Utilize analytical skills to assess safeguarding breaks, identify root causes, and drive process enhancements across payment flows.

Requirements

• Professional experience in safeguarding, client money, or prudential/conduct regulation within an EMI, PSP, bank, or fintech environment.
• Strong working knowledge of UK regulatory frameworks (EMRs 2011, PSRs 2017) and related governance and incident reporting expectations.
• Proven experience designing and operating controls such as daily safeguarding calculations, reconciliations, and incident management.
• Proficiency with complex data sets and financial systems using SQL, Excel, or BI tools.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage confidently with senior management, auditors, and regulators.
• Degree in Finance, Economics, Law, Accounting, or a related discipline.
