About the role

About the Company

fab2 is an early-stage hardware startup founded by Sam Zeloof and Jim Keller. The team designs all the hardware and software needed to make chips, building the fabs, tools, and components themselves.

Responsibilities

  • Build interactive editing tools with low-latency interfaces for geometry manipulation and routing
  • Develop production-grade Rust software for native and WebAssembly environments
  • Architect real-time collaborative systems including state synchronization and conflict resolution
  • Implement efficient algorithms for geometry querying, graphs, and routing
  • Build high-performance rendering and visualization pipelines using GPU acceleration
  • Profile and optimize CPU, GPU, memory, and network performance
  • Own major features end-to-end and collaborate with process engineers and circuit designers

Requirements

  • Pursuing a BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or demonstrated exceptional software engineering skill
  • Strong programming skills in Rust, or significant C++/systems programming experience
  • Solid understanding of systems fundamentals: memory, performance, and concurrency
  • Experience building non-trivial software projects from scratch
  • A portfolio (e.g., GitHub) demonstrating software engineering excellence is required
  • Interest in real-time systems, computational geometry, algorithms, GPU programming, or visualization

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with interactive software like Figma, Blender, CAD tools, or KiCad
  • Background in WebAssembly or building rich applications
  • Familiarity with Protobuf, schema evolution, or database migrations
  • Understanding of collaborative systems like CRDTs, OT, or WebSockets
  • Experience with graphics rendering pipelines such as WebGPU, Vulkan, or OpenGL
  • Exposure to advanced 2D/3D visualization or simulation
