Russian Interpreter

Responsibilities

• Provide oral interpretation from Russian to English and vice versa during confidential interviews, institutional dissemination, and dialogues with authorities.
• Perform written translation of Russian language materials, such as newspaper articles and correspondence, into English.
• Conduct analysis and reporting regarding conditions of detention, security, and other matters related to the ICRC mandate.
• Support various protection activities, including family reunification processes and visits to detainees.

Requirements

• Excellent command of English (C1 level).
• Excellent command of Russian (C1 level).
• Minimum of 2 years of professional experience.
• Valid driving licence (for manual transmission vehicles).
• Ability to work under pressure in potentially dangerous environments.
• Willingness to accept unaccompanied postings for the first two missions (minimum 12 months each).

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of Ukrainian (B2 level) is a strong asset.
• University degree in interpretation or translation.
• Proficiency in other ICRC operational languages such as French, Spanish, or Arabic.
