Rural Reporter

Responsibilities

• Gather, produce, and present rural, mining, and primary industry content for radio, digital, video, and social media platforms.
• Present programs such as the Rural Report and source stories that matter to farmers, producers, and regional communities.
• Engage with local communities to find and tell stories that resonate with both local and national audiences.
• Contribute to planning and commissioning processes to develop new content ideas.
• Collaborate with ABC teams to share content across multiple platforms, including Country Hour, Landline, and digital news.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a working journalist, preferably with skills in live presentation and broadcast.
• Strong understanding of rural and regional issues and a commitment to diversity in storytelling.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to build and nurture a network of contacts.
• Ability to work as a self-starter with limited supervision in a remote location.
• A valid driver’s licence and a willingness to travel to meet people face-to-face.
