About the role
Responsibilities
- Take accountability for the site's reliability program for rotating equipment, focusing on early defect detection and elimination
- Support the maintenance team with repair planning for critical rotating equipment failures
- Develop and optimize maintenance strategies for critical rotating assets to improve MTBF and MTTR
- Conduct root cause failure analysis (RCFA) on major equipment failures and manage improvement action items
- Design preventative, predictive, and condition-based monitoring programs for critical assets
- Perform equipment criticality analysis and ensure adequate spare parts availability
- Actively engage in capital projects to ensure proper equipment selection, installation, and spare parts requirements
- Facilitate reliability-related improvement initiatives and participate in the site OEE program
- Assist with the design and management of the site's Mechanical Integrity program
- Serve as a key member in the development and execution of shutdown timelines
Requirements
- Mechanical Engineer with P. Eng designation or currently pursuing designation
- 5 years of experience working in a chemical plant environment
- Experience working with API and CSA standards
- Experience using CMMS software, preferably SAP
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of various rotating equipment including centrifugal/positive displacement pumps, compressors, agitators, blowers, and exhaust fans
- Familiarity with pump sealing systems, API seal piping plans, and lubrication systems
- Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies
