Robotics Software Engineer, Diagnostics

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain the diagnostic framework in the robotics software stack
• Contribute to the diagnostic data schema for efficient, standardized, and human-readable reporting
• Develop diagnostic tests to surface hardware issues, sensor behavior, and power anomalies
• Collaborate with the Infrastructure team to build data pipelines for collecting and processing diagnostic data
• Generate clear, prioritized, and contextualized reports to accelerate root cause analysis

Requirements

• BS or MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related technical discipline
• 3+ years of professional experience in diagnostics, monitoring, or telemetry for complex electro-mechanical devices or robotics
• Proficiency in Rust or C++ for embedded environments or robotics middleware
• Experience with data structuring, schema design, and data ingestion pipelines
• Deep understanding of robotics hardware failure modes (motor control, sensor interfaces like CAN/I2C, power management)
• Ability to interpret hardware schematics and low-level system logs

Preferred Qualifications

• Technical triaging skills and familiarity with Ishikawa diagrams
• Familiarity with S3 or data lake storage
