About the role
About the Company
Matic is on a mission to recapture lost time by revolutionizing home robotics. Our first product is a floor cleaning robot that utilizes spatial AI, real-time 3D mapping, and adaptive path-tracking to work reliably in real homes.
Responsibilities
- Partner with design engineers to understand the physics of failure and design accelerated test methods
- Run DFMEA and set reliability targets early to predict failure modes before launch
- Design and build test setups for loading scenarios such as fatigue, vibration, shock, temperature, and humidity
- Monitor field failures via support tickets, social media, returns, and telemetry
- Perform teardowns of returned units to identify unreported failures
- Own and track the full catalog of field and potential failure modes across the fleet
- Build analytics on motor and sensor telemetry to surface failures at scale
- Perform root cause failure analysis from early bench testing through field returns
- Influence design direction by flagging under-prioritized failure modes
Requirements
- Technical degree in mechanical engineering, materials science, or equivalent
- 2-5 years of experience in a reliability engineering position
- Track record of defining reliability targets and test plans for consumer electronics
- Deep comfort with reliability statistics, life data analysis, and Weibull++
- Solid understanding of Design of Experiments (DOE), FMEA, and DFMEA
- Experience specifying and building reliability test setups
- Ability to analyze multi-source field data including telemetry and support tickets
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup atmosphere
