About the role
Responsibilities
- Develop and evaluate data strategies for multimodal dexterity, combining tactile, vision, and force/torque data
- Design representations and learning pipelines that enable tactile–vision fusion for tasks like grasping and slip detection
- Analyze large-scale tactile and vision datasets to identify key features and performance bottlenecks
- Collaborate with hardware teams to understand sensor characteristics, noise, and latency constraints
- Prototype learning-based models using supervised, self-supervised, or reinforcement learning approaches
- Contribute to experimental design and benchmarking to evaluate sensing modalities and fusion strategies
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a PhD in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- Strong background in robotic perception, machine learning, or multimodal sensing
- Hands-on experience with tactile sensing, force/torque sensing, or computer vision for robotics
- Proficiency in Python and experience with ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX
- Experience working with real-world sensor data and understanding physical system constraints like noise and synchronization
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior research publications in leading robotics, ML, or sensing venues
- Experience with robotic platforms, simulation environments, or benchmarking frameworks
- Familiarity with real-time systems or edge-AI constraints
