Robotics Framework Engineer II

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain the shared robotics software framework, including RT/NRT interface patterns and inter-process communication conventions
• Own CI/CD pipelines for embedded and robotics codebases across simulation and hardware targets
• Develop and maintain software-in-the-loop (SIL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test infrastructure
• Build shared robotics toolkits including kinematics libraries and trajectory math
• Establish code quality standards, branching strategies, and release processes
• Author Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) and developer documentation
• Collaborate with robotics engineers to translate platform needs into durable infrastructure

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
• 2+ years in a robotics or embedded systems environment
• Proficiency in modern C++ (17 or newer) and Python
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins)
• Working knowledge of robotic arm kinematics and foundational robotics math
• Experience with ROS/ROS2 and simulation environments like Gazebo or MuJoCo

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing shared libraries or SDKs
• Familiarity with real-time systems and EtherCAT or similar fieldbus protocols
• Experience with cross-compilation toolchains for embedded targets
• Exposure to safety-critical software development practices
• A platform-builder mindset focused on engineer productivity
