Robotics Engineer

Responsibilities

• Develop software systems for future lunar rovers within the Intelligent Robotics Group
• Conduct research and development for robot missions on Earth and in space
• Focus on key work areas including autonomy, navigation, perception, and robot user interfaces
• Support NASA and non-NASA customers through technology delivery and field testing

Requirements

• M.S. or higher in Computer Science or Robotics
• Strong background in robotics, computer vision, and distributed systems
• Extensive software development experience with C/C++ and GNU tools under Linux
• Experience with robot perception, guidance, navigation, and/or planning
• Proficiency in Agile development methodologies
• US Citizen or Permanent Resident

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with embedded systems and real-time motion control
• Knowledge of 3D environment modeling for obstacle avoidance and rendezvous
• Expertise in sensor fusion, including Extended Kalman filters and visual pose estimation (SLAM)
• Experience with ROS (Robot Operating System) framework and DDS networking middleware
• Familiarity with cFS (core Flight Software)
