About the role

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the maintenance, construction, and repair of native, gravel, and paved roads.
  • Maintain and repair bridges, structures, culverts, and other drainage facilities.
  • Operate a variety of heavy and specialized machinery, including graders, backhoes, front-end loaders, and dump trucks.
  • Patrol county roads to identify hazardous areas and necessary repairs.
  • Perform road maintenance tasks such as patching potholes, cutting brush, burning weeds, and flagging.
  • Install, paint, and repair guard rails, signs, and signposts.
  • Conduct minor repairs and preventative maintenance on tools and equipment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • One year of experience operating trucks or heavy equipment in road maintenance or a related field.
  • Ability to obtain a Class A CDL.
  • Ability to obtain a DOT Medical Certificate.
  • Ability to obtain Flaggers Certification within six months of employment.
  • Ability to pass a background check and meet insurance eligibility requirements.
