RN PreOp/PACU

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients’ physical and mental health, gather medical history, and prepare them for surgery
• Assess surgical site and airway quality, and administer pre-operative medications and IV fluids
• Provide clear explanations of surgical procedures to patients and family members
• Verify informed consent and implement safety protocols to prevent complications
• Conduct venipuncture and blood draws as needed
• Monitor vital signs, oxygen levels, and overall condition during anesthesia recovery
• Administer pain medication and implement management strategies
• Recognize and manage post-operative complications
• Assess readiness for discharge and provide discharge instructions
• Maintain accurate documentation of nursing care

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Valid RN license in the appropriate state

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of nursing experience
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nursing
