About the Company

Outpost operates as a Merchant of Record across 58+ tax jurisdictions, handling payments, tax compliance, and customer experience for digital and physical goods. Our team includes leaders from Revolut, Airwallex, Adyen, and Wayflyer.

Responsibilities

• Build Outpost's risk management framework from scratch, including policies, procedures, controls, and governance
• Identify, assess, and monitor risks across payments, tax, financial crime, and operations
• Work with Product and Engineering to embed risk thinking into new product launches and market expansions
• Stay ahead of regulatory changes in key markets such as the EU, UK, and US
• Design and implement AML/fraud controls across 58+ jurisdictions
• Develop KRIs (Key Risk Indicators) and MI (Management Information) to track risk exposure
• Represent Outpost in discussions with regulators, banking partners, and payment processors

Requirements

• 5-7 years in risk, compliance, or financial crime at a payments company or fintech
• Mandatory experience in payments or fintech
• Strong quantitative background (STEM, economics, or similar)
• Proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language (Python, R)
• Experience in first line of defence (1LoD) roles
• Ability to work in person in London or Amsterdam 4-5 days a week

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Merchant of Record (MoR), marketplaces, or cross-border payments
• Experience building risk models, monitoring systems, or fraud detection algorithms
• Machine learning or statistical modelling experience applied to risk/fraud
• Experience interacting directly with regulators or banking partners
