About the role
Responsibilities
- Manage the institutional insurance portfolio, including property, liability, workers’ compensation, fidelity, and cyber coverage.
- Serve as the primary liaison with brokers and carriers and manage the claims process from reporting to resolution.
- Develop, implement, and maintain an Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework and conduct college-wide risk assessments.
- Act as the designated Environmental Health & Safety Officer, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations regarding chemical hygiene, laboratory safety, and hazardous waste.
- Review contracts, policies, and vendors to ensure appropriate coverage and compliance.
- Advise departments on risk implications for new programs, initiatives, and operational changes.
- Collaborate with Campus Safety and Facilities on emergency management protocols and participate in the Emergency Management Executive Team.
- Support institutional compliance with regulatory areas such as Title IX, Clery Act, FERPA, and ADA.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in risk management, insurance, environmental health and safety, or compliance.
- Strong ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders and executive leadership.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize complex tasks.
