Risk and Control Manager

Responsibilities

• Manage and mitigate operational risks through assessment and strengthening of controls within complex technology environments.
• Design, develop, and improve software solutions using industry-aligned programming languages and frameworks to provide business and platform capabilities.
• Lead the evolution of digital landscapes by managing control design and governance within cloud and on-premise infrastructure.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to define requirements and ensure seamless integration with business objectives.
• Advise key stakeholders and senior management on functional impacts and alignment across the enterprise.
• Implement effective unit testing and secure coding practices to protect sensitive data and ensure software reliability.
• Drive accountability and deliver sustainable outcomes by monitoring Key Risk Indicators and control testing programs.

Requirements

• Proven track record in operational risk management, control design, and governance in technology environments.
• Deep understanding of risk management frameworks such as COSO or ISO 31000.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements including PRA, FCA, SOX, and GDPR.
• Strong experience with Three Lines of Defence, RCSA, and Issue Management processes.
• Conceptual understanding of cloud platforms, infrastructure-as-code, containerization, and modern platform engineering.
• Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles.
• Exceptional influencing and negotiation skills with the ability to challenge senior technical leaders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Expertise in building ELT pipelines and cloud/storage integrations (e.g., Redshift, BigQuery, Snowflake).
• Solid understanding of DevOps tooling, GitOps, Jenkins, and source control systems.
• SRE experience, specifically defining KPIs (SLIs/SLOs) using tools like ELK or Prometheus.
• Knowledge of data engineering and middleware technologies and their associated risk profiles.
