About the role
Responsibilities
- Design and build sophisticated character and creature rigs using industry-standard software
- Prepare characters for animation by setting up skinning and weighting
- Develop facial rigs for expressive animations including lip-syncing and emotive expressions
- Implement realistic body mechanics, muscle simulations, and secondary animations
- Write scripts and use automation tools to streamline rigging processes
- Troubleshoot rigging issues and provide creative technical solutions
- Collaborate with animators and modelers to ensure artistic and technical requirements are met
- Maintain detailed documentation for rigs to facilitate smooth handovers
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior rigging artists
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Animation, Computer Graphics, or related field
- 5+ years of experience as a Rigging Artist in animation or VFX
- Proficiency in Maya or Blender
- Solid understanding of anatomy, kinematics, and character movement
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Portfolio or demo reel required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Metahuman
- Familiarity with Python for automation
- Leadership experience mentoring junior artists
