Rig Electrician

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment on drilling rigs
• Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical faults and implement repairs
• Perform routine inspections and maintenance on electrical panels, generators, and related equipment
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and electrical codes
• Work closely with the rig crew to maintain uninterrupted electrical operations
• Document work performed and maintain accurate maintenance records
• Assist in training and mentoring junior electricians and crew members

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Associate's degree from a technical college
• Manufacturer training in at least two areas (e.g., Ross Hill SCR, IPS SCR, PLC, Caterpillar Engine controls)
• Minimum two years in the electrical field with two years in the Oil/Gas drilling industry
• Subject matter expert knowledge of electrical test equipment (VOM, multimeters, oscilloscope, etc.)
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
• Familiarity with API, ABS, IEEE, and SOLAS standards
• Strong leadership and on-the-job training skills
• Proficiency in English for verbal and written communication and reporting
• Working knowledge of drilling operations to minimize interruptions
