RFIC Layout Designer

Responsibilities

• Work with integrated circuit designers and chip leads to determine chip floor plans, power/ground distribution, and pad locations
• Accurately estimate layout schedules and identify complex areas for early investigation
• Perform layout of custom RF and analog circuit blocks with attention to matching and minimizing parasitic capacitance
• Execute design rule checking (DRC), electrical rule checking (ERC), and layout versus schematic (LVS) checks
• Perform top-level layout integration with electrostatic discharge structures and pad assembly
• Manage final tape out processes including density fill and design for manufacturability checks
• Collaborate with EDA suppliers to trial new tools and features
• Generate guides and demos to showcase layout technique improvements

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical or computer engineering and 1+ years of professional IC layout experience
• OR 3+ years of professional experience with integrated circuit layout design
• Ability to work extended hours and weekends as needed to meet critical milestones
• Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee to comply with ITAR regulations

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong analog layout skills
• Experience in advanced node IC layouts (22nm, 16nm, 7nm, 5nm or below)
• Experience in layout of circuits with frequencies up to 50GHz
• Experience with sensitive RF blocks such as LNAs, VCOs, and mixers
• Proficiency with SKILL programming, shell scripting, Perl, or Python
• Experience managing revision control systems and circuit design
• Understanding of device matching, coupling, and noise isolation
• Working knowledge of Linux
