Retail Area Manager

Responsibilities

• Ensure high levels of customer service across all stores
• Resolve customer complaints referred by store managers
• Meet and exceed individual and overall sales targets
• Conduct fortnightly meetings with store managers to drive performance
• Coach, develop, and motivate the team while ensuring succession planning
• Perform bi-annual performance appraisals and manage disciplinary procedures
• Oversee staff scheduling and optimum coverage
• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and cleanliness standards
• Manage stock, rotation, and visual merchandising guidelines
• Monitor local competitors and recommend improvements to store experience
• Oversee administrative accuracy including stocktakes, ordering, and transfers

Requirements

• Matric certificate
• Valid South African driver's license
• At least 2 years of leadership/management experience managing multiple areas
• Proven ability to lead, influence, and delegate to a team
• Knowledge of HR procedures and labor laws
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to interpret financial data and make key decisions
• Computer literacy
• Passion for animals and customer service

Preferred Qualifications

• Retail-related qualification
• Experience selling in veterinary or pet care environments
• Completed retail courses on leadership and performance management
• Knowledge of specific pet brands and products
