About the role
Responsibilities
- Ensure the physical, emotional, medical, and behavioral needs of program participants are met
- Plan and facilitate recreational, leisure, and skill-building activities appropriate to participant goals
- Provide personal care and intervention for behavioral challenges as required
- Transport participants using program vehicles
- Prepare and distribute meals and snacks according to approved menus
- Dispense medication and maintain accurate medication charting in compliance with agency policies
- Complete essential documentation including daily logs, incident reports, and participant records
- Perform house maintenance and organization of property and program supplies
Requirements
- Community College diploma in developmental disabilities, Child and Youth Work, or a related field
- Minimum of one year of experience in a social services setting providing direct care to individuals with intellectual disabilities
- Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification
- Current First Aid & CPR Certification
- Current Safe Food Handling Certification
- Valid Ontario Class G or G2 Driver’s License with a satisfactory driver’s abstract
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks including bending, crouching, and standing for long periods
- Ability to pass a Vulnerable Sector Screening and background check
