About the role

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the physical, emotional, medical, and behavioral needs of program participants are met
  • Plan and facilitate recreational, leisure, and skill-building activities appropriate to participant goals
  • Provide personal care and intervention for behavioral challenges as required
  • Transport participants using program vehicles
  • Prepare and distribute meals and snacks according to approved menus
  • Dispense medication and maintain accurate medication charting in compliance with agency policies
  • Complete essential documentation including daily logs, incident reports, and participant records
  • Perform house maintenance and organization of property and program supplies

Requirements

  • Community College diploma in developmental disabilities, Child and Youth Work, or a related field
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a social services setting providing direct care to individuals with intellectual disabilities
  • Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification
  • Current First Aid & CPR Certification
  • Current Safe Food Handling Certification
  • Valid Ontario Class G or G2 Driver’s License with a satisfactory driver’s abstract
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks including bending, crouching, and standing for long periods
  • Ability to pass a Vulnerable Sector Screening and background check
