About the role

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the physical, emotional, medical, and behavioral needs of program participants are met
  • Plan and facilitate recreational, leisure, and skill-building activities appropriate to participant goals
  • Provide personal care and intervention for behavioral challenges as required
  • Advocate for participants to promote overall health and well-being
  • Transport participants using program vehicles and prepare/distribute meals and snacks
  • Dispense medication and maintain accurate medication charting in compliance with agency policies
  • Complete essential documentation including daily logs, incident reports, and participant records
  • Perform house maintenance, organization of property, and general supply upkeep

Requirements

  • Community College diploma in a related field (e.g., Developmental Service Worker or Child and Youth Worker)
  • Minimum of one year of social services experience providing direct care to individuals with intellectual disabilities
  • Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification
  • Current First Aid & CPR Certification
  • Current Safe Food Handling Certification
  • Valid Ontario Driver's License (Class G or G2) with a satisfactory driver's abstract
  • Clear Vulnerable Sector Screening and Background Check
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks including standing, walking, and bending for long periods
