About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide 24/7 respiratory therapy services in ICUs, Emergency Departments, Operating Rooms, and specialty areas like the Hyperbaric Medicine Unit
- Assist with airway management and respond to cardiac or respiratory arrest and trauma
- Perform diagnostic tests including bedside spirometry, oxygen saturation, and blood gas analysis
- Administer specialty aerosolized and MDI medications
- Manage ventilated patients according to departmental protocols and assist with bronchoscopies
- Act as a resource for nurses, residents, and allied health personnel regarding respiratory and airway care
- Educate patients on the use of respiratory therapy equipment for hospital and home care
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
- Registration with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists
- Registration with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario
- Ability to work in a Hyperbaric environment
- Effective communication skills and ability to perform without direct supervision
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Respiratory Therapist in Adult Critical Care
- Certified Hyperbaric Medical Technologist (CHT) designation
- Experience in Hyperbaric Medicine
