Respiratory Therapist

Responsibilities

• Provide 24/7 respiratory therapy services to patients in Intensive Care Units, Emergency Department, Operating Rooms, and specialty units
• Assist with airway management and respond to cardiac and respiratory arrest or trauma
• Attend intra and inter-hospital transports of critically ill patients
• Administer specialty aerosolized and MDI medications
• Perform diagnostic tests including bedside spirometry, oxygen saturation, and blood gas analysis
• Manage ventilated patients according to departmental protocols and assist with bronchoscopies
• Act as a resource for nurses, residents, and allied health personnel regarding respiratory care
• Educate patients on the use of respiratory therapy equipment for hospital and home care

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
• Registration with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists
• Registration with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario
• Ability to work in a Hyperbaric environment
• Effective communication skills and ability to perform without direct supervision

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Respiratory Therapist in Adult Critical Care
• Certified Hyperbaric Medical Technologist (CHT) designation
• Experience in Hyperbaric Medicine
