Respiratory Therapist

Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory therapy services 24/7 in ICUs, Emergency, Operating Rooms, and specialty units
• Assist with airway management and respond to cardiac or respiratory arrest and trauma
• Attend intra and inter-hospital transports of critically ill patients
• Administer specialty aerosolized and MDI medications
• Act as a resource for nurses, residents, and allied health personnel
• Teach patients the use of respiratory therapy equipment for hospital and home care
• Perform diagnostic tests including bedside spirometry, oxygen saturation, and blood gas analysis
• Assist with bronchoscopies and manage ventilated patients according to protocols

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
• Registration with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists
• Registration with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario
• Ability to work in a Hyperbaric environment
• Effective communication skills
• Ability to perform without direct supervision

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Respiratory Therapist in Adult Critical Care
• Certified Hyperbaric Medical Technologist (CHT)
• Hyperbaric Medicine experience
