Responsibilities

• Monitor patient physiological responses to therapy, including vital signs and arterial blood gases
• Set up and operate mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration apparatus, and aerosol generators
• Maintain patient charts containing pertinent identification and therapy information
• Inspect, clean, test, and maintain respiratory therapy equipment
• Educate patients and families about conditions and disease management techniques
• Perform bronchopulmonary drainage and assist with breathing exercises
• Conduct tests such as EKGs, stress testing, or lung capacity tests
• Perform endotracheal intubation to maintain open airways
• Monitor cardiac patients using electrocardiography devices

Requirements

• Certification from an accredited respiratory therapist program
• One year of hospital experience, ER experience preferred
• Ability to work unsupervised
• Flexibility and availability for on-call and coverage requirements
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail
