Respiratory Care Assistant

Responsibilities

• Provide care to patients with acute and chronic illness under the supervision of a Registered Respiratory Therapist
• Administer various therapeutic modalities and follow established patient care plans
• Adhere to protocols for medication delivery and oxygen setups/titration
• Set up and monitor patients on non-invasive ventilation as required by the site
• Perform equipment processing, including high-level disinfection of reusable supplies and oxygen tank maintenance
• Conduct chart reviews for order verification and provide electronic documentation
• Reinforce patient and family education regarding respiratory care

Requirements

• Current enrollment in a Respiratory Therapy degree program
• Successful completion of the basic therapy clinical rotation within your college program
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
• Ability to successfully complete department-specific training modules and competency check-offs
