About the role
Responsibilities
- Facilitate quality service and laboratory workflow coordination for inpatient phlebotomy
- Investigate and resolve service problems between support services, nursing units, and clinical departments
- Coordinate specimen processing, delivery, and result distribution
- Perform pre-analytic workflow tasks including order entry and specimen collection verification
- Register patients and verify demographics in the computer system
- Manage specimen integrity by verifying labeling, aliquoting, and performing preventative maintenance on equipment
- Monitor daily workflow and adjust staff assignments and priorities to meet service levels
- Review results for completeness and correctness and follow notification protocols
- Perform billing and charge capture for tests and services
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience with computer data entry
- Knowledge of hospital and laboratory systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Three years of experience in an appropriate support services area
