About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day support to young people using trauma-informed and strengths-based approaches to promote safety and wellbeing.
- Support young people through withdrawal, including de-escalation, crisis response, and managing challenging behaviours.
- Assist with daily living tasks such as meal preparation, maintaining the residence, and encouraging personal hygiene.
- Facilitate group programs, daily activities, and life skills development to support recovery and independence.
- Support medication processes, including safe storage and supervision of self-administration in line with policy.
- Maintain accurate case notes, documentation, and contribute to case planning and handovers.
- Build strong relationships with young people, families, carers, and external services.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience working with young people experiencing alcohol and other drug challenges.
- Relevant qualifications in youth work, community services, psychology, or social work.
- Ability to engage young people with complex needs and build genuine rapport.
- Strong capability in managing challenging behaviours and responding to crisis situations.
- First Aid & CPR certificate.
- Full driver's licence with no restrictions.
- Ability to work a 24/7 rotating roster, including days, overnights, weekends, and public holidays.
- Ability to pass a national police history check and obtain a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
