Residential Worker

Responsibilities

• Provide residential support and supervision to residents, ensuring safety, security, and adherence to house rules and parole conditions
• Monitor resident movement via sign-out logs and perform regular headcounts to ensure premises security
• Distribute medications and maintain accurate records in the medication log book
• Complete intake and out-take tasks for residents and perform regular facility rounds
• Maintain constant alertness during shifts and ensure the portable phone and panic button are always accessible
• Protect the confidentiality of all residents and staff while fostering an atmosphere of trust and respect

Requirements

• Ability to obtain and maintain Canadian Reliability Status
• Computer literacy
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Strong conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
• Ability to undergo applicable background checks, including the Salvation Army Abuse Registry

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the field of residential support or social services
• Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline
• Ability to understand offender behavior dynamics and assess needs and risks
• Skills in crisis intervention and the effective use of authority in supervision
• Demonstrated cultural competence and compassion for individuals from diverse backgrounds
