About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide a safe and secure environment for staff, residents, and visitors within Emergency, Transitional, and Supportive Housing programs.
  • Act as a positive role model for clients by developing professional relationships rooted in dignity and respect.
  • Monitor client behavior for adherence to rules and policies and assist with conflict resolution.
  • Conduct client intake, including interviewing, completing forms, and providing program orientation.
  • Perform household maintenance tasks such as cleaning common areas, laundry services, and basic building maintenance.
  • Prepare and serve food to clients at mealtimes.
  • Maintain required documentation, shelter logs, and shift change procedures.

Requirements

  • High School diploma.
  • Certificate in a Social Services related field (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • 1-2 years of prior experience in a social service setting, specifically working with marginalized individuals.
  • Current certification in Standard First Aid / CPR, Foodsafe, and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention.
  • Ability to pass a Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Check and an Abuse Registry Check.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds and ascend/descend stairs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic administrative procedures.
