Residential Tutor

Responsibilities

• Provide supplemental instruction in Mathematics, English, Science, and Foreign Languages to high school students.
• Plan and lead evening workshops, study review sessions, and academic support for midterms, essays, and finals.
• Supervise students' daily activities in the residence hall, ensuring adherence to program policies, curfews, and discipline standards.
• Foster a sense of community through organized icebreaker and team-building activities.
• Assist with administrative tasks, including preparing materials and completing weekly program documentation.
• Support students in developing essential study skills such as time management, note-taking, and test-taking.
• Maintain a safe environment by instructing students on emergency procedures and assisting with crisis management as needed.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an associate or bachelor’s degree program.
• Experience in tutoring or teaching Mathematics, English, Science, or Foreign Languages.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to reside in a residence hall for a six-week period.
• Ability to be on-call 24 hours per day, five days a week.
• Demonstrated commitment to justice, equity, inclusion, and diversity.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Education, Liberal Arts, Mathematics, English, or Science.
• One year of experience working with TRIO or Educational Equity Programs.
• Experience working with low-income, first-generation, and underrepresented students.
• Experience living and working in a college residential setting.
• Maintaining a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher at your current institution.
